Two Lumberjacks
There were two lumberjacks who worked side by side. Every morning they started cutting wood at the exact same time, and every evening they stopped at the exact same time.
Every day, right in the middle of the day, one of the lumberjacks would disappear for about an hour. Yet, he always managed to chop more wood than the lumberjack who stayed behind. This went on for months.
Finally, the lumberjack who worked straight through the day couldn’t take it anymore. He finally asked his partner, “I have to know, every day we start and stop work at the same time, and every day you disappear for an hour. Yet, you always cut more wood than me. Where do you go for that hour?”
The other lumberjack says, “Oh, I go home to take a break and sharpen my axe.”
Moral: Working constantly doesn’t automatically make you more productive. Stepping away from your work allows you to reset your focus and prevent burnout.
