Market for Tuesday September 30 --NEW YORK (AP) -- Wall Street snapped back Tuesday after its biggest sell-off in
years amid growing expectations that lawmakers will salvage a $700 billion
rescue plan for the financial sector. But the seized-up credit markets where
businesses turn to raise money showed no sign of relief.
Today's closing bell marked the end of the 3rd quarter Running with the Bulls Stock Market Game. Never in the history of this contest has there been so much volatility and major economic changes. If you have been paying attention to the game this quarter, you know that the financial stocks were the big movers and that's exactly what it came down to as the contest came to a close. A huge congratulations goes to Pickle Max, who rode Jamie Dimon and JPMorgan to the finish line. It got a little scary for Pickle yesterday, but his stock came through when it counted, up 13.9% today. Pickle Max finished up 19.8%, absolutely beating the S&P 500's 10.3% decline since the contest started. While a few portfolios had a tough run mainly thanks to ACI, CLF, and CF, 72% of the portfolios beat the S&P 500.

CLF -44.0%, FCX -32.6%, JOYG -31.8%, ACI -31.3%, and FLS -30.3%

Financials +9.5% and Consumer Staples -0.3%
Worst performing sectors:
Basic Materials -29.4% and Capital Equipment -21.7%
